DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 14: NWFP police chief Mohammad Sharif Virk has said that districts adjacent to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas will be sealed off during Muharram to ensure law and order.

Strict security measures have been taken in four sensitive districts on the occasion, Mr Virk told this correspondent here on Sunday. He said police and Frontier Constabulary would patrol the areas.

He said special checkpoints would be set up in Peshawar, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan and Hangu.

We have obtained the services of 100 platoons of the FC and the army can also be called if needed, he said.

Earlier, while presiding over a meeting, Mr Virk asked police officers to hold meetings with local organisations and seek their help to maintain peace on the occasion.
