BADIN: Widows, orphans await funds

BADIN, Jan 13: As many as 487 widows and orphans have not received welfare amount from the benevolent fund of their deceased caretakers for last eight months, the affectees complain on Friday.

Ms. Maryam, a widow and others complained to newsmen that they were running from pillar to post and post to pillar to get their funds for last eight months but they were being treated as if they were alms seekers.

They said that they were demanding what was legally theirs from the benevolent fund of their deceased husbands and fathers and demanded that the authorities immediately release the funds.

A district government official blamed non-release of funds by Sindh government for delay in the cases’ disposal and said that the district urgently needed an amount of Rs828,000 for three months to meet the demands of widows and orphans.
