Four injured in firing by absconders

BAHAWALPUR, Jan 12: Four passers-by sustained injuries by the firing of as many proclaimed offenders of Musa Phul gang near Abbasnagar, about 15km from here on Friday.

Reports said Musa Phul, Jeda and two others allegedly attacked the house of Makhdum Husain who had got registered a case against them with Saddar police.

On receiving information, a heavy police contingent rushed to the spot. On seeing the police, the accused managed their escape by resorting to firing. As a result of which Sajid, Shehzad, Abdul Ghaffar and a woman suffered injuries and were removed to Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Saddar police have registered a case.

GRANT RELEASED: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has released a grant of Rs1.61 crore (Rs16.1 million) for government girls college, Dubai Mahal Road.

The CM had announced the grant during his visit here in November last year. According to district officer (colleges) Ghulam Akbar Sheikh, a fine arts department will be built at a cost of Rs8 million. A sum of Rs3.1 million has been set aside for library block while Rs2.5 million will be spent on dualisation of College Road.
