TMA cancels tax collection contracts

SHIKARPUR, Jan 12: The taluka municipal administration has cancelled the contracts for collecting Maal Piri and Tah Bazar taxes due to non-payment of instalment by the contractor for the last six months.

This was stated by the taluka nazim of Shikarpur, Zafar Ali Shaikh, while speaking at a press conference here on Friday.

He also announced forfeiture of call deposit of the defaulter contractor Ghulam Akbar Shar under the provision of SLGO 2001, after he failed to pay instalments.

The cancelled contracts included, Rs3.1 million for Maal Piri and Rs2 million tax collection from the Tah Bazar.

The action was taken by the TMA soon after the Piri was shifted back to original place in the city on the demand of cattle owners.
