KARACHI, Jan 11: Residents of Union Council-8, Gabopat, Keamari Town, have expressed their outrage over the KWSB’s failure to restore water supply to Abdul Rehman Goth and Arbab Safar Goth of this UC despite having received payment for the service on June 15, 2002. They have asked the KWSB authorities to provide the service without any further delay.

They said that a sum of Rs1.719 million had been paid to the KWSB by the city government for supplying water to the pumping stations of Gabopat villages, but the villages were still without water. The KWSB had not also been responding to several reminders sent to it during the period.

When contacted, UC-8 Nazim Mubarak Singo, said he had also made several representations to the city nazim and KWSB managing director in this regard but nothing had succeeded in making the KWSB realise the immense hardship being faced by the deprived villagers in availing the most essential commodity.

The nazim said that the quantity of water being supplied to them through tankers was quite insufficient to meet the daily requirement of water and the villagers had to fetch water from ponds located miles away as a daily routine.

He pointed out that the pond water was often found contaminated and unfit for human consumption.
