LAHORE, Jan 10: Decisions are expected to be made at a meeting on law and order in all the provinces which is being presided over by President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad on Thursday (today).

“The main agenda of the meeting include street crime and traffic management,” official sources said on Wednesday.

According to them, the meeting had been convened by the president in view of the rising street crime, mainly robbery, in major cities and traffic mess.

The meeting was expected to be attended by all chief ministers, chief secretaries, home secretaries and inspector generals, the officials claimed.

In Lahore, Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi reportedly consulted senior officials of the provincial government to prepare for the meeting.

Officials said briefs were prepared regarding the street crime in Punjab, its reasons and measures taken to curb it, and shortcomings in police. Similarly, briefs were also prepared regarding traffic mess, problems in handling it and measures being adopted to regulate it.
