KARACHI, Dec 30: President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Mian Tanvir Ahmed, on Saturday called for public-private partnership in power and energy sector to rid the country and industries of load-shedding.
According to a press statement, the newly-elected FPCCI president said the demand for power would be ever-increasing and industries require un-interrupted supply of electricity. Energy demand was increasing by 6-8 per cent annually or equivalent to 1000 MW, he added.
He welcomed government move to allow establishment of small power plants, issuance of licenses to various companies for production of electricity through alternative resources.
He FPCCI called for increase in power generation, and urged Wapda and KESC to take concrete measures to improve power supply situation.—APP
