BAHAWALPUR, Dec 29: Prices of emergency lights have gone up after two-to-four hours power outage every day in Bahawalpur, Dawn has learnt. Beside emergency lights, prices of lanterns, kerosene oil, battery cells and small power generators were also increased in the local bazaars.

There was a shortage of kerosene oil and customers had to pay Rs50 for a bottle against the normal price of Rs40.

A small-sized lantern would costRs200 and big-sized Rs300 or even more, Dawn learnt. Battery cells were also being sold at high prices.

The Multan Electric Power Company has affected business of traders with intermittent load shedding but those shopkeepers who have arranged emergency lights or generators are attracting the customers. — Correspondent
