MELBOURNE, Dec 27: Legendary West Indies batting star Brian Lara on Wednesday rated Aussie spin wizard Shane Warne and fast bowler Glenn McGrath as two of the greatest cricketers ever to have played the game. “Shane Warne is definitely the best spinner I have played against,” Lara told Australian media. “I've faced more difficult spinners but when I'm defining the best I'm talking about someone who is capable of producing a magical delivery. He is someone who's never lost confidence.”

Lara, currently in Australia on holidays, watched the first day of the fourth Ashes Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as Warne eclipsed the historic 700-wicket mark.

The 37-year-old West Indies captain, who has fought several battles against the great Australian duo, said McGrath had also been a model of consistency.

“Glenn McGrath is definitely up there with best fast bowlers I have faced - no great reliance on pace, just relentless in terms of line and length.”—Agencies
