Arrest termed illegal

QUETTA, Dec 27: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court on Wednesday declared the detention of Sadiq Raisani, president of his own Baloch Bar Association, illegal and directed the Capital City Police Officer to set the detainee free.

The bench comprising

BHC Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani accepted submissions of the petitioner challenging the detention order.

The police officer informed the court that the petitioner had been detained because of his activities which were a threat to public safety and said that the detainee used to make objectionable and provocative speeches at press conferences instigating lawyers and general public to create law and order problem.
