FC man shot dead in Bajaur

KHAAR, Dec 24: Gunmen shot dead a soldier of the Frontier Corps in Inayat Kalay of the Bajaur Agency on Sunday morning, officials said.Eyewitnesses said that four masked men stopped a pickup at a checkpost and dragged out Hawaldar Waheed Shah from the vehicle. The gunmen first slapped him on the face and then fired on him with an AK-47 rifle.

The accused managed to escape from the scene. No group has claimed responsibility for the murder.

Political authorities have registered a case, but no arrest has been made. The deceased was serving in the Swat Scouts of the Frontier Corps.

Meanwhile, three missiles were fired on the Bajaur Levies post in the Mandal area on Saturday night, partially damaging the post. The attack did not cause any casualty. Anther missile was fired in the Daber area of Mamond tehsil, which hit a hilltop.

AFP adds: Quoting local residents, an official of the local administration, Abdul Hameed, said the gunmen claimed that the slain soldier had been “spying for US troops” based in Afghanistan.
