ISLAMABAD, Dec 23: A Supreme Court Review Board on Saturday extended the detention of the London terror plot accused Rashid Rauf for 90 days and ordered detention of another Pakistan-born UK national, Aurengzeb, for the same period.

Both Rashid Rauf and Aurengzeb were produced before the review board of the Supreme Court where the proceedings were held in camera.

Constituted under Article 10 (4) of the Constitution, the review board is appointed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan comprising a chairman and two judges as its members to authorise the detention of a person involved in acts prejudicial to the integrity, security, defence or external affairs of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Advocate Hashmat Ali Habib, who is defending Rashid Rauf as his legal counsel, told Dawn that perhaps the government had sought three-month detention from the review board by allegedly submitting forged documents to prevent release of his client by the judicial magistrate on bail.
