Democrats panel wins KPC polls

KARACHI, Dec 23: Sabihuddin Ghausi and Imtiaz Khan Faran of The Democrats panel have been elected as president and secretary of the Karachi Press Club (KPC) in the annual election held here on Saturday. Mr Ghausi secured 431 votes while Mr Faran bagged 341.

Gunevere David (398), Azhar Hussain (327) and Aamir Latif (359) were elected vice-president, joint secretary and treasurer respectively. Those elected to the seven-member governing body of the KPC are: Arman Sabir (398), Naqeebur Rehman (391), Shams Keerio (375), Rashid Ajmeri (352), Mohammed Anwar Khan (324), Masroor Afzal Pasha (315) and Syed M Mukhtar Shah (305).

The Democrats panel swept the polls winning all 12 seats -- five for office-bearers and seven for the governing body.
