Two gangs busted

LAHORE, Dec 19: Jauhar Town and Gulshan Iqbal police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested six members of two gangs and recovered looted valuables worth Rs5.5 million besides illegal weapons from their possession.

The accused confessed to 24 crimes of dacoity and theft.

A special team, headed by the Jauhar Town SPO, nabbed Tahir Mahmood, Jameel, Rasheed and Zafar Iqbal of the inter-district Tari gang.

The police recovered six cars, a tractor, two motorcycles, two cell phones and illegal weapons from them.

Four of the gang members — Saleem Masih, Nasir, Tariq and Zafar — managed to escape.

Tahir, a proclaimed offender, and his accomplices had killed many people during dacoity, including a cultivator and his employee, in Deepalpur tehsil.

Another team, led by the Iqbal Town SPO, apprehended Maqsood and Karamat of Billa thief gang and seized a computer, two cell phones and illegal weapons.
