Khwaja Farid remembered

BAHAWALPUR, Dec 19: The birth anniversary of saint Khwaja Ghulam Farid was observed on Tuesday. Islamia University’s Seraiki Department organised a function, wherein Department Chairman Dr Nasrullah Khan Nasir, Faculty of Arts Dean Prof Najeeb Jamal, Prof Javed Chandio and Public Relations Director Nazir Khalid addressed and stressed the need for more research on the life of Khawaja Ghulam Farid.

PRICE: The district price control committee met on Tuesday and decided to take strict action against profiteers. District Coordination Officer Muhammad Ashraf directed magistrates to raid meat shops and take action against butchers found overcharging.

Suspended: Baghdadul Jadid police ASI was suspended from service on Tuesday for allegedly torturing to death a pregnant woman, Tasleem Bibi, at Tibba Badar Shair on Monday.

Talking to this correspondent, city ASP Mahar Zulfiqar Ahmed said a five-member medical board had not confirmed torture in its initial report.
