KARACHI, Dec 18: Pakistan hockey skipper Rehan Butt has said that absence of senior players led to dismal performance of the team in the Asian Games. He was talking on a local TV channel on Monday.

“We missed senior players as our squad comprised young players. The players did not have experience to compete in big competitions,” Rehan, who took over captaincy from seasoned midfielder Mohammad Saqlain, maintained.

He said that inclusion of senior players were necessary for the team after the defeat in the Asian Games.

“I believe that if the senior players want to play for Pakistan they must be included in the side as I feel their presence is necessary after the Asian Games failure.”—PPI
