Three bank officers booked for fraud

SAHIWAL, Dec 18: Fateh Sher police on Sunday night registered a case against three employees of Askari Commercial Bank Limited (ACBL) and their one accomplice for withdrawing cash fraudulently.

Reports said ACBL Jinnah street branch lady commercial officer Ms Zahra Batool, officers Sajid Mahmud, Kashif Shaheen and their accomplice Nadeem Hassan on July 28, 2005 got sanctioned a loan and then withdrew an amount of Rs842,000 (Rs0.842 million) from the bank.

On the report of bank manager Adnan Asghar, police have registered a case under Section 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 489 of the PPC. The bank management has reportedly removed from service Zahra Batool, Sajid Mahmud and Kashif Shaheen.

EMBEZZLEMENT: Chichawatni police on Monday arrested an accountant of educators college for embezzling Rs206,665.

Reports said Rizwan had misappropriated the amount by producing fake receipts.

On the report of college principal Mahmood Ahmed, police have registered a case under Section 420 and 406 of the PPC and arrested him.

TRADER LOOTED: Five bandits in a car looted the vice-chairman of Harappa Anjuman Traders on Sunday night.

Reports said Sufi Abdul Latif Naveed along with his nephew Muhammad Ahmed was on his way back home after recovery by a motorcycle (SLN-5786). The dacoits chased them and made off with Rs0.3 million and a cell phone. Later, traders, led by Anjuman chairman Muhammad Sharif, took out a protest procession on Monday and demanded arrest of the accused by 20th failing which they would block GT Road.

Meanwhile, two armed bandits in a pickup took away cows worth Rs0.14 million from owner Shakeel Ahmed at Chak 64/4-R.

A case has been registered.
