Published December 16, 2006

ABBOTTABAD, Dec 15: The Abbottabad-Nathiagali road was blocked on Friday in protest against closure of power in most parts of Galiyat for 12 days.

Residents of Nagri Bala, Namli Mera, Ayubia and other villages blocked the road for more than four hours and burned tyres at different places.

The power supply was suspended after heavy snowfall in the area.

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has failed to restore electricity in most parts of the Galiyat.

The closure of power has also caused water shortage in the entire area.

Students are also facing problems as annual examinations are being held in all private educational institutions.

The works department has removed snow from the main road, but the entire link roads are closed in the area which is further increasing the miseries of the people of the area.
