NAUSHAHROFEROZE, Dec 14: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister for Information Salahuddin Haider has said that doctors and other government officials, currently rendering services in Karachi, will be posted in their domicile districts.

“Basic purpose of domicile is that the posting of officials in their respective districts is ensured,” he said while talking to newsmen at the Circuit House here on Thursday.

“If a doctor having a domicile of interior Sindh is not ready to work at the hospital of his district, then who will serve the people in interior Sindh,” he said in reply to a question.

It was not the MQM's decision, but of the government, he said.

To a question, he said there was no ban on admissions of students from interior Sindh to the medical colleges of Karachi. He, however, said there was no quota system and admissions would be given only on the basis of merit.

Mr Haider said that coastal area and Karachi were the property of Sindh, and the two islands would not be sold out. He said new towns would be constructed in the islands with a cost of Rs43 billion within four years.

He said that Kalabagh dam should be constructed with the consent of all four provinces. “This is the point of view of the MQM,” he added.

To another question, he said arrangements for issuance of visa from Karachi, instead of Islamabad, were under consideration, and would be finalised soon.

The adviser to CM said he not only condemned the rape incident involving Shahzadi in Mehrabpur, but all such incidents. He said Shahzadi had reached Karachi and met with the press.
