KARACHI, Dec 13: An All-Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Cup Inter-departmental Basketball tournament will be staged at Lahore’s Railway Stadium from Dec 17 to 23.

Pakistan Amateur Basketball Federation (PABF) is organising the tournament in collaboration with the Railways Sports Board.

The PABF has extended invitations to Army, PAF, Navy, Police, Railways, HEC, Rangers, POF Wah, Habib Bank, KESC and Wapda.

Meanwhile, three nations – Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Nepal – have confirmed to feature in an International tournament which the PABF planned to host sometime in April next, secretary PABF, Lt Col Naseem Butt, told Dawn on Wednesday. Confirmation from other countries are still awaited he said adding free boarding and lodging to 12 players and four officials will be provided during their stay in the country.

The official said a national basketball team comprising 15 to 20 players may undertake a training tour of Greece next year. Half of the strength will consist of under-24 players, he said.

He said the proposed trip will be held under bilateral agreement signed between Ministry of Sports and Culture and their Greece counterparts.

The PABF, he said, was laying more emphasis on juniors and recently conducted an Inter-school tournament in Lahore.
