KARACHI, Dec 11: Pakistan reject Shahid Afridi blasted an attacking century to put Habib Bank in a winning position in their Patron’s Trophy Cricket Championship quadrangular round match against Wapda at the NBP Sports Complex on Monday.

Afridi struck nine fours and five sixes in making 100 off mere 91 deliveries as the bankers were dismissed for 339 in their second innings.

Set a daunting target of 393, Wapda were 107 for four in their second innings with Bilal Khilji (25) and night-watchman Shabbir Ahmed (19) at the crease at draw of stumps.

A remarkable 22 wickets went down on the first day of the four-day match on Sunday as the bankers were bowled out for 125 in their first innings and Wapda skitttled out for 72 in reply.

Afridi, who made 50 in the first innings, reached his hundred in style by lifting left-arm paceman Sarfraz Ahmed for two consecutive sixes before dismissed by same bowler on the next ball.

Afridi also took 20 runs off four balls from former Test leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed. After getting his first fifty in 61 balls, Afridi bludgeoned the hapless Wapda bowlers as he raced to his second half century in just 28 balls.

Mushtaq finished with five for 125 in 25.5 overs.
