NA committee briefed on Erra progress

ISLAMABAD, Dec 8: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat Friday was briefed on the ongoing/completed projects of the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra).

The meeting held at the Parliament House was presided over by MNA Ahmed Raza Maneka. An Erra representative informed the meeting that 99 per cent people had been provided ‘mid-term’ housing facilities and only 10 per cent were living in tent villages at the moment. All offices, banks, schools and health facilities are now functioning in the earthquake areas, he added.

Erra director-general Planning further said at present all the roads and services were operational and markets were back in business. He said Rs60 billions had been disbursed for reconstruction and rehabilitation under the authority. An amount of Rs75,000 per house was being provided to the affected people in three instalments to repair their houses.
