GUJRANWALA, Dec 7: The district administration on Thursday issued notices to 28 factories’ owners for spreading pollution and ordered them to shift their units outside the city immediately under the Punjab Local Government Ordinance.

Up to 3,000 factories are being run in the city. On public’s persistent complaints, District Coordination Officer Manzar Hayat visited various localities in the city and found factories polluting the areas.

He ordered sealing of two leather factories on Ferozewala Road for emitting pollutants. The Punjab chief minister’s task force for environment also recommended the shifting of these factories outside the city.

FATAL RIDE: A motorcyclist was killed while his friend injured when a tractor trolley hit them on Sheikhupura Road on Thursday. The deceased was identified Tahir from Buda Goraya village.
