LAHORE, Dec 7: At least 16 people were injured, two of them seriously, in two roof collapse incidents here on Thursday.

Around 12 youngsters sustained injuries when the roof of a billiard club collapsed on Zaildar Road in Ichhra.

Over two dozen youngsters were playing billiards at the club owned by Shaikh Ejaz when its roof collapsed owing to the excavation work at the adjacent multi-storey plaza. The area people and passersby started removing the debris to rescue the youngsters.

In the meantime, the Rescue 1122, an Edhi team and the police hastened to the spot and helped removed the victims and rushed them to Services Hospital.

The injured were identified as Hyder Waheed, 13, his brother Ali Waheed, 15, Azhar Butt, 10, Rashid Ali, 19, Sheraz, 12, Waqas, 16, Mudassar, 9, Khalil, 37, Mahmood, 47, Arshad Ali, 20, Jan Sher, 12, and Yasir. Except Mahmood, all the injured were discharged from hospital after first aid.

In another incident, four family members were injured when the roof of a house partially collapsed in Niaz Baig village in Sattokatla.

Reports said the wall of the mud house was being repaired when the incident happened, leaving Wazir Ghulam, 20, Shahnawaz, 17, one-month-old Iqra and Nazir, 25, injured. The Rescue 1122 rushed the injured to hospital.

ACCIDENTS: Two people died in separate accidents on Thursday.

An unidentified youth was crushed to death by a speeding bus in Bhati Gate area.

Police said the boy was crossing the road near Pir Makki shrine when the accident took place.

In the other accident, a motorcyclist was ran over by a tractor-trolley on Ghazi Road in North Cantonment.

Police said Ibrar, 17, was on way to Defence when the tractor-trolley hit and killed him on the spot.
