Jurists’ moot

BAHAWALPUR, Dec 6: The first-ever three- day national jurists’ conference will be held under the auspices of the Bahawalpur High Court Bar Association on the high court Bahwalpur bench) premises from Dec 8-10.

Briefing newsmen here on Wednesday, bar president Malik Saeed Ejaz said that in all 24 papers on topics like “Judicial activism”, “Speedy and fair justice” “Independence of judiciary and role of bar, “The role of judiciary in good governance,” “Role of bar and media in the elimination of corruption” and crime, investigation, prevention of terrorism and reform” would be read.

He said speakers included Justice Ijaz Yousaf (retired), former Sahriat Court chief justice Mian Allah Nawaz, Justice Maulvi Sultan Alam (retired) and Punjab AG Aftab Jamil.

He said Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhry would preside over the last session on the concluding day on Dec 10 while Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi would be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony on Dec 8.
