Robbers injure watchman

LAHORE, Dec 5: Four armed men shot at a watchman during a failed robbery bid in Gulshan-i-Ravi on Monday night.

The robbers, riding a car, intercepted the family of Malik Qadeer when they were entering their house at 222-E, after attending a marriage ceremony. They held them at gunpoint and asked them to hand over cash, jewellery and other valuables.

In the meantime, their watchman Shafi, 45, came out of the house and tried to overcome one of the robbers as a result of which the intruders opened fire on him and escaped.

The injured, a resident of Sanda Kalan, was rushed to Services Hospital in critical condition.

The police were informed which chased them and succeeded in nabbing one of the robbers.

However, Gulshan-i-Ravi SPO denied that the police arrested any of the accused.

Meanwhile, robbers struck several times in the city on Tuesday and took away valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Three robbers barged into Yahya Malik’s house on the Upper Mall and took away cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs300,000.

Three robbers intercepted Mian Tariq on Khayban-i-Jinnah in the Sattukatla area and snatched Rs250,000 in cash from him. Mr Tariq was on way after withdrawing cash from a bank.

Two motorcyclists intercepted Mohsin and his wife in the Gulberg area and snatched cash, cell phones and gold ornaments worth Rs400,000.
