RAWALPINDI, Dec 5: Three police officials were arrested after an under-trial prisoner escaped from their custody on Tuesday.

Police said ASI Noor Mohammad, constables Shafiq and Tahir Mehmood have been arrested by the RA Bazaar police under the Police Order 2002.

The prisoner, Munawar Hussain, booked by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on the charge of carrying charas was advised to get a blood test done from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) by the jail doctor.

Guarded by the three policemen of the Adiala Jail, the accused was taken to the laboratory, where carrying of weapons even by the police is not allowed.

After reaching the laboratory, the policemen on the request of the accused allowed him to attend call of nature and kept on guarding outside.

When the policemen opened the door of the toilet after a while, the prisoner was missing.

Cellphones looted: A gang of four robbers looted around one dozen cellphones and cash from customers and the shopkeeper in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Mohammad Kiani, the staff officer of federal minister for parliamentary affair Dr Sher Afghan Niazi was among the robbery victims who was robbed of his cellphone, said police sources.

Police said the robbers burst into Ali Complex in Blue Area and entered a cellphone shop. They held the shop owner and customers at gunpoint and forced them to give up their cellphones and cash.

The robbers snatched 10 cellphones and about Rs60,000 in cash from the customers and escaped.

When SHO Kohsar, Fida Hussain Satti was contacted, he said it was a minor incident in which some cellphones were taken away by culprits. However, the police were desperately hunting the robbers.

In another incident, two armed men raided a nursery in I-9 area and took away cash and a cellphone from its employee.
