Published December 3, 2006

OKARA, Dec 2: A number of youth staged a protest demonstration in front of the press club here on Saturday, demanding construction of a road and upgradation of a primary school for girls at 51/3-R. The protesters, led by Sajjad Ahmad Bajwa, told newsmen that local villagers had been demanding construction of a 15-km road for the last 10 years.

He along with other protesters accused MNA Rai Muhammad Aslam Kharl of delaying the road project for the last four years.

He said since partition in 1947, the girls primary school of the village had not been upgraded to middle level.

He said the villagers had decided not to cast votes in the coming general elections till the acceptance of their basic demands.
