KHAIRPUR, Dec 2: A complete strike was observed in Sagiyoon, Agra, Jado Wahan and other towns of the Sobhodero taluka on Saturday. The strike call was given by the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz in protest against the proposed construction of Kalabagh dam, Thal canal and other dams on the Indus River. A procession was also taken out in Sagiyoon.

The protesters said that there was no water to irrigate lands in Sindh, but the government was bent upon constructing Kalabagh dam on the Indus River.

They said that 20 irrigation channels of the Sobhodero taluka were lying dry for four years and thousands of acres of land had been rendered barren.

PROTEST: Members of the Shah Abdul Latif University Employees Welfare Association took out a procession on Saturday in protest against the registration of an FIR by the Sukkur-Ghotki police against members of the SALUEWA, Umeed Ali Mirani and Faqir Mohammad Mirani.
