SUKKUR, Nov 29: PML President Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain and Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhary Pervaiz Ilahi visited Ghotki on Wednesday and held talks with former chief minister of Sindh Ali Mohammad Mahar and his brother Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar, Ghotki district nazim, at the Gohar Palace in Khangarh.

Matters related to current political situation in Sindh, forthcoming general elections and caretaker set-up came under discussion on the occasion, informed sources told Dawn.

Chaudhary Shujaat apprised the Mahar brothers of President General Musharraf’s plans about the forthcoming elections and a caretaker government, they said.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Army Staff Committee General Ehsan-ul-Haq also visited the Gohar Palace and held a two-hour meeting with the Mahar brothers.

The meetings are being considered as important in view of the reports doing the rounds here that the Mahar brothers have contacted the PPP Parliamentarian and expressed their desire to join the party along with several nazims, including Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, nazim of Sukkur district.
