SANGHAR, Nov 29: Sanghar Sugar Mills stopped crushing in compliance with PSMA’s decision to close mills for indefinite period on the midnight of Tuesday-Wednesday citing short supply of sugarcane as the main reason.
The mill was receiving about 60,000 maunds cane as against its crushing capacity of more than 140,000 maunds, said the mill’s field staff advising the farmers not to harvest sugarcane because the mill had been closed for an indefinite period. Farmers said that the delay in harvesting, which had already pushed forward wheat sowing would reduce the cane’s weight and increase its sugar contents.—Correspondent
