PESHAWAR, Nov 29: The NWFP government will observe the year 2007 as the year of tourism with a theme ‘Visit Pakistan’ in accordance with a decision of the federal government.

This was stated by provincial Minister for Tourism and Archaeology Hussain Ahmad Kanju at a meeting held here on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by the general manager tourism Mohammad Mushtaq.

The minister said the NWFP would host 11 major events besides arranging an inaugural function of the World Tourism Day in Peshawar. He said the provincial government would do all its best to celebrate the year 2007 as tourism year in a befitting manner. The government would provide security to domestic and foreign tourists, he added.

Mr Kanju said the Sarhad Tourism Corporation had also set up Tourist Information Centre with all facilities in the Peshawar Museum for guidance of tourists.—APP
