KARACHI: Man in fraud case gets bail

Published November 28, 2006

KARACHI, Nov 27: Justice Syed Zawwar Hussain Jaffery of the Sindh High Court on Monday allowed pre-arrest interim bail till December 12 to an applicant accused of misappropriating ‘lakhs of rupees’.

Appplicant Naseemul Haq Malik, former deputy registrar of co-operatives, was given additional charge of administrator of the Ex-Servicemen’s Cooperative Housing Society in 1997.

He held the office for nine months. Embezzlement was allegedly detected after four years and a first information report was registered by the Anti-Corruption Establishment, which submitted a challan in March 2005.

Appearing for the applicant, Advocate Chaudhry Abdul Rashid contended that the delay in the registration of the FIR and the charge of embezzlement without specifying the amount or documentary evidence entitled him to the relief of bail. The court granted the applicant interim bail till December 12.
