PESHAWAR, Nov 26: Federal Minister for Political Affairs and president of Pakistan Muslim League’s NWFP chapter Amir Muqam has claimed that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will not quit the National Assembly for fear of losing its government in the Frontier province and share of power in Balochistan.

Speaking at a public meeting in Bisham on Sunday, he alleged that the MMA had used religion to reach the power corridor and now its lawmakers would not resign from assemblies because the alliance would then lose the NWFP and Balochistan governments.

He said the MMA had pledged to end the VIP culture, but now it had adapted the same culture and forgot all its promises of simplicity.

About reconstruction activities in earthquake-hit areas, the minister said projects worth billions of rupees had been launched in the Shangla district.

He announced Rs5 million each for water supply schemes of five union councils of the Shangla district.—APP
