DERA GHAZI KHAN, Nov 25: Insurgents on Saturday released eight kidnapped workers of a construction company engaged in building Kacchi Canal’s phase KC-6. They were kidnapped on Nov 23 from a company’s camp.

Some 50 security personnel have been deputed to avoid further untoward incident in the area.

Reports said 15 armed men attacked the construction camp of D-Baluch Construction Company in Sui area near Rajanpur. Besides kidnapping eight workers, they burnt the camp and 11 tractors. They made the workers hostage to press for their demand of forthwith closure/stoppage of work on 500 kilometre long Kacchi Canal, which is meant for irrigation of an arid zone in Balochistan. The project manager told Dawn that more security personnel were needed to be deployed at the site.—Correspondent
