DERA GHAZI KHAN, Nov 25: Kot Cchutta police on Saturday foiled an attempt of kidnapping three tenants of Jhoke Uttra union council nazim after an encounter with gangsters for almost a whole day.

Police said that the men of the Bhand gang kidnapped tenants Aslam, Muhammad Bakhsh and Riaz of UC Nazim Mian Zafar in Mauza Rakh Saiwara Bait Cheenwala.

On the report of the UC nazim, a heavy police contingent rushed to the spot and started chasing the fleeing kidnappers. The culprits left the boat after it developed a fault and disappeared in the nearby jungle, leaving behind three kidnapped tenants. They resorted to firing when the law enforcers besieged the area. Later, the shootout continued for the whole day without any casualty from both sides. Taking advantage of a thick jungle, the culprits managed to escape.

The tenants handed over a letter of ringleader Khuda Bakhsh Bhand to police in which he demanded Rs0.5 million for the safety of Jhoke Uttra UC nazim.
