KARACHI, Nov 25: Residents of various parts of the city complained of frequent power breakdowns despite the lowering mercury has reduced the daily demand for electricity.A resident of Block 15-A-5, Buffer Zone, complained that his locality experienced power failure for the whole night on Friday and it could be restored only in the evening on Saturday.

“We frantically called KESC staff to restore electricity but they gave no positive response,” the resident, Farid Ahmed, said.

Similar complaints were received from parts of Lyari Town, including Baghdadi, Daryabad, Chawkiwara and Nawabad, where residents were forced to witness hide-and-seek they were subjected to by the KESC.

“The situation normalized on Saturday night after 24 hours,” an irate resident said.

Complaints of power breakdowns were received from different parts of Federal B Area, Mauripur, Saddar, Gulshan-i-Iqbal and the DHA.

A KESC spokesman said the power failures were due to localised faults and were attended to as and when the corporation’s field staff were informed of them.
