KABUL, Nov 24: Afghan and foreign troops clashed with Taliban fighters in southern Afghanistan on Friday, killing seven rebels in a battle involving war planes, mortars and gunfire, the US-led coalition said.

Separately the coalition said it had arrested 11 “terrorists” in a raid in an eastern province.

The day-long battle was near Sperwan Ghar, an area in Kandahar province which has seen several major clashes between Taliban and security forces.

A coalition soldier was also wounded in the engagement, the US-dominated force said in a statement.

The coalition said in a separate statement that its troops working with Afghan forces had captured 11 “terrorists”.—AFP
