KARACHI, Nov 24: Thousands of fixed phone lines went out of order on Friday in Azizabad telephone exchange after a main underground cable was damaged during development work being carried out by the city government.

Spokesman for STR-III Saleem Khan said that the underground cable was damaged in the evening near the under construction Sohrab Goth flyover, which resulted in damaging phone lines in Blocks 19, 20, 22 of Federal B Area, and Scheme-33 in and around Al-Asif Square.

He said that the GM STR-III Javed Qureshi, took immediate notice of the damaged lines and ordered repair work on priority which was likely to be completed within 3 to 4 days.
