GUJRANWALA, Nov 23: A scam of black marketing of sugar from utility stores came at surface on Thursday. It is learnt that the officials sold 30 bags of sugar from Gondlanwala Adda utility store, 50 bags from Naushera Road and 80 bags from Cantonment store on the subsidised price to shopkeepers.

The residents of these areas gathered outside stores and chanted slogans against the officials. They demanded that cases should be registered against the officials for black marketing.

It is also learnt that the shopkeepers who bought the sugar were selling it on market rates.

When contacted, the utility stores area manger said the regional manager had recommended stern action against the officials.

SIALKOT JAIL CASE: The ATC No 1 continued the hearing of Sialkot jail case and recorded the arguments of defence counsel here on Thursday.

Advocate Muzaher Naqvi said the operation continued for 10 hours while judges were killed by Shahbaz Butt, Ijaz Butt and their accomplices and not police.

He said on that day a lawyer died and the courts were closed so there was no justification of jail visit of judges. If they had received any directive for the visit, then why they did not inform the district police officer.

He said the prosecution dropped the evidence of 28 witnesses, including the then DIG Tariq Salim Dogar, DPO Ghulam Muhammad Kalyar, jail superintendent Shaukat Feroze and inspector Sanaullah Dhillon, etc., due to which facts could not come to light.

He said the accused had demanded a bus and five Kalashnikovs.

He claimed that the judges were already killed when police started the operation while police officials were innocent.
