CHARSADDA, Nov 23: The Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba held a demonstration here on Thursday in protest against police action against students of the Peshawar University (PU).

The procession started from the post-graduate college. The participants criticised police for using tear gas shells and baton against students. They also protested against ban on students’ unions, changes in the curriculum and the Aga Khan Board, etc.

During the protest demonstration, students burnt tyres on different roads as a result of which traffic came to a standstill. They also chanted slogans against the government.Addressing the protesters Nazim Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba Peshawar Division Ajmal Khan, District Nazim Charsadda Syed Ziarat Shah and other speakers condemned the policies of the government in the curriculum.

They said that the federal government wanted to change the curriculum on the pattern on the Aga Khan Board.—Online
