Published November 23, 2006

KARACHI, Nov 22: For the first time, a total of 116 family doctors and general physicians from Sindh and 85 doctors from Punjab will appear in the Member Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) International UK examination here on November 24.

The British Council of Pakistan will hold the examination on behalf of the Royal College of General Practitioners, with the coordination of the College of Family Medicine Pakistan.

According to CFMP secretary-general Dr Aziz Khan Tank, the holding of the examination in the country will save foreign exchange, time and provide homely atmosphere to candidates.

After prolonged deliberations, the Royal College of General Practitioners, UK, had agreed to hold the examination in SAARC countries, such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka and Nepal simultaneously on November 24, he said, adding the examination in Karachi would be held at a local hotel.

The CFMP carried out training programme for family doctors at Karachi and Lahore, while the RCGP evaluated participants’ calibre and training programme before approving the proposal for holding of the examination.
