HYDERABAD, Nov 21: The World Fishermen's Day was observed across Sindh on Tuesday by various organisations, demanding abolition of the contract system for fishing in lakes and the Indus River.

Fishermen of Jamshoro, Kotri, Karo Khao and Hyderabad, including women and children, held a demonstration outside the press club.

They raised slogans against the contract system for catching fish, sale of two islands of Sindh and construction of more dams on the Indus River.

Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum vice-chairman Mustafa Mirani led the fishermen.
