Dozens of criminals held in crackdown

LAHORE, Nov 20: CIA staff claimed on Monday to have arrested dozens of criminals and seized a big quantity of illegal weapons from them during a special crackdown launched on Sunday night.

Special teams constituted on the direction of Capital City Police chief, arrested 59 target offenders, nine proclaimed offenders and two court absconders from different parts of the city.

The police recovered 11 Kalashnikovs, 21 pistols, two carbines, 7,588 bullets, six kilo hashish and a motorcycle from the accused.

The arrested POs have been identified as Ibrar Husain, Khaliq Mahmood, Khurram Shahzad Butt, Zulfiqar Ali and Rahmat Ali.

AWARENESS: Schoolchildren have been urged to learn about the police emergency 15, avoid bogus calls and use the number for right purpose.

Mujahid ASP Tanveer Ahmad said this while giving a briefing to the students of Cathedral School, Moon Market, Gulshan-i-Ravi, on the 15 service here on Monday under the directive of SP Sohail Chaudhry.

He told them about the objective and procedure of the service and urged them not to dial bogus calls resulted in wasting the time of the police and depriving the genuine complainants of their right.

The students spent two hours at the emergency 15 and used to learn and receive calls.
