NAWABSHAH, Nov 16: The managing-director of the Sindh Seed Corporation, Mr Haji Khan Keerio, has said that wheat is being sown on 900,000 hectares in Sindh.

He was speaking at a gathering of progressive growers at a local restaurant here on Thursday.

He said that about 100,000 ton seed was required but the Sindh Seed Corporation had only produced 1,000 ton wheat seed.

He said that the SSC would produce 20,000 tons of wheat seed in the next wheat season.

Aijaz Butt said that the FFC supplied almost 60 per cent urea and 45 per cent DAP requirement of country.

He said that the FFC had established 14 regions and five advisory centres in the country.

He said that water and soil samples were being tested free at the FFC centre in Mirpurkhas.

He said that licence of leaders black marketing urea and DAP would be cancelled and the agriculture department and the district administration should also take strict action against them.
