MULTAN, Nov 16: A local Anti-Terrorism Court No 2 on Thursday acquitted four accused in a rape case.

Rubeena Shaheen, a lady health worker of Lodhran BHU, filed an FIR on Sept 22, 2006, alleging that Muhammad Ashraf, Haji Allah Nawaz and Bashir Ahmed had raped her at the instance of union council nazim Riaz Ahmed Arain due to old enmity. She further alleged that they had also snatched cash and ornaments from her.

The judge said in his decision that rape charges against the accused could not be proved and ordered their release.

CONGREGATION: A three-day annual gathering of Dawat-i-Islami will start on Sher Shah Road here after Friday prayers.

Noted religious leaders and scholars would address different sessions of the congregation.

Arrangements for women participants have been made at Qila Qasim Bagh.

According to the organising committee, more than 1.5 million people are expected to participate in the congregation from all over the world.

They said special arrangements have been made for the special (disabled) people.

The congregation would conclude after Asr prayers on Sunday.
