GUJRAT, Nov 16: Police claimed to have arrested 638 proclaimed offenders and 633 court absconders during the last four months. At a press conference on Wednesday, district police officer Syed Ahsan Mehboob claimed to have arrested 49 gangs of criminals.

He said 32 kalashnikovs, 155 rifles, 97 guns, 141 revolvers, 644 pistols, four hand grenades along with launchers and 10,512 cartridges were also recovered from the arrested men.

He said the police recovered 20kg hashish and 985 bottles of liquor from drug peddlers.
