KARACHI, Nov 16: The directorate of private schools, Sindh has planned a number of co-curricular activities and sports events for students of VIII to X in private educational institutions commencing on Nov 20.

A notification of the directorate issued on Thursday said that since the city government had decided to celebrate platinum jubilee of the Karachi city council building in a befitting manner the directorate would hold different events for the private school students studying in classes VIII to X in all the 18 towns of the city from Nov 20 onwards.

The events included speech contest on the theme of “role of Karachi in the development of Pakistan”, quiz, painting/poster competitions and Bait Bazi.In the meantime, Director Private Schools Mansoob Hussain Siddiqui said that every event would be held at least for one week, while the final town-wise competitions would be held from Jan 8 to 11, wherein the president, prime minister, Sindh governor, chief minister and city nazim were expected to give away prizes, medals, shields, cash awards to the winning students.

Heads of schools have been advised to send the list of students willing to participate in the events latest by Nov 18 positively. Registration forms may be collected from the office of the director, 95-Deport Lines, Soldier Bazaar.

According to directorate’s notification, the guidelines for the competing students are as follows: Quiz competition will comprise 50 per cent questions related to Karachi and 50 per cent on Pakistan; Bait Bazi-open and balanced verses; paintings/posters-heritage buildings of Karachi.
