Five-goal Mazzini spurs Remounts

LAHORE, Feb 15: Remounts beat Samsung 7-6 to enter the final of Power International Basant Cup polo, at the Lahore Polo Club on Friday.

Gerardo Mazzini scored five goals for the winners including the decisive one, while Ramiros Garros scored all six goals for Samsung.

The other scorers for Remounts were Manzoor Shah and Ahmad Khan who scored a goal each.

The final will be played between Samsung Blues and Remounts on Saturday at 3.30pm.

In another match of the day, KFC Remounts defeated Master Paints 6-4 1/2.

Remounts took the lead in the first chukker 3-1 with Mazzani scoring two goals and Shah one. For the losers, Ramiro scored a goal.

In the second chukker, Remounts again came out with 5-3 lead as Mazzani scored two more goals. Ramiro for Samsung also scored two goals.

The third chukker was goalless.

In the fourth chukker the struggling Garros brought Samsung at par 6-6 by registering hat trick. Earlier, Ahmed Khan scored one goal for the Remounts at the start of the chukker. In the last minutes, Mazzani converted a spot penalty to score the match- winner.

A hat trick by Captain Haseeb Mehta enabled KFC Remounts to beat Master Paints.

Mehta struck a hat trick by scoring two goals in the second chukker and one in the third chukker. Toto Collardin added two goals for the winners while Arslan chipped in with one goal.

For the losers, Diego Araya scored two goals while Kamran Noor-ud-Din added one goal.One and a half goal was the handicap of the losers.
