LAHORE, Nov 10: In what may be termed a major organisational change, Ms Benazir Bhutto has replaced the president and secretary-general of the Punjab People’s Party.

Makhdoom Shah Mehmud Qureshi and Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas are the new president and secretary-general, respectively. They replace Qasim Zia and Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan who were appointed in March 2001.

Qasim Zia, who is also opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly and Rana Aftab, the deputy parliamentary party leader, have been appointed members of the central executive committee.
